KAIROS Blanket Exercise

by ma-web

Student, faculty and staff gathered in the SBM Charitable Foundation Auditorium to mark the closing of Native American Heritage Month with the KAIROS Blanket Exercise. The moving experiential workshop explored the nation-to-nation relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. Blankets arranged on the floor represented land and participants were invited to step into the roles of various Indigenous peoples. The workshop helps people to understand how colonization impacts those who were present long before settlers arrived. It engages people's minds and hearts in understanding why the relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples is often broken and how positive action can be taken.
