This piece is inspired by Gregor Samsa’s grotesque transformation into an insect in Franz Kafka’s novel “The Metamorphosis” and Portuguese artist Graça Morais.
I decided to solely use black and white to represent this physical process of change as in many cultures these two non-colours are associated with life and death. The objective of this portfolio is for the viewer to contemplate about the inevitability of change and growth.
