Architecture Potpourri

Architectural entropy and negentropy meet at the kink in Swanston Street that marks the University edge of the Melbourne CBD. The building in the righthand foreground is the RMIT Design Hub. It is built on the site of the company that once produced Foster's Lager. Perhaps a Design Pub would have been more appropriate...

The cells in the outer skin of the Hub are a nod to the draught beer barrels that used to be all over the site (once even hauled in drays by draught horses!) and they incorporate automated sun-shading.

The Edwardian era City Baths building can be partially seen at the extreme left.
