Pieds de résistance — Toe Terracing
This is enlarged detail from Footwell 3 -- Vénus baignée de lucarne.
The shot caught the model's right foot in an unusual side elevation, showing all her toes and the ball of her right foot aligned in a way that would not happen with a foot in a shoe or on the ground.
It was taken in the kind of "natural studio" I relish -- in this (stair)case a primary light source from a skylight above the void, and a weaker one from a small window on the upper right of the base of the statue. This let just a little secondary light shine past the right foot's hidden arch onto the heel, giving a subtle delineation between the feet. Another gift of broad even light and surface curvature changes.
