Footwell 3 -- Vénus baignée de lucarne.
Venus bathed in skylight. We make a transit of Venus every time we go up or down the stairs.
The stairway rises continuously, including through its single 180 degree turn around, giving the smallest rectangular cross-section void for its height gain. At the turnaround there is a niche, presumably to prevent claustrophobia. The bathed Venus towels herself down there. (For a while back now, there was a fashion in garden ornamentation for crude concrete versions of Christophe-Gabriel’s statue, The Bather, also known as Venus.)
The faux statue is bathed in light, but in my favourite photography, light itself is the sculptor's chisel that creates faux three-dimensionality, as on the pinker feet here.
