Variation 7 of 13 ---Alice in Chains---
A public duplicate of an earlier private image posted into some niche groups (mainly).
∞∞Alice∞in∞Chains∞∞ is the name of a rock band. People searching for images of the band have been directed to a variant of this photo. My description had referred to "Alice through the Looking Glass" and to the slinky mirror chain. Evidently Flickr indexes words in descriptions as well as titles. I hope those searchers decide they hadn’t put a foot wrong… 😄
At first I felt I hadn't quite "nailed it" with this version, because two of its four planes of interest are neither unambiguously within the DoF nor in bokeh. But I've come to think the stepwise sharpness has its own merits, and the different camera position reveals a gracefully tapered instep in overview, an overlooked element in most discussions of ladies' feet. And once again, the real feet show sfumato and the virtual feet chiaroscuro shading. So I like the result enough to want to make it publicly accessible in the album that contains my most popular photos. (The original was in portrait mode, toes pointing down. The private version is shown inverted. This version is now in landscape mode -- it seems fresher to me, and the larger scale on a PC or laptop seems beneficial.
When I learned the laws of "Specular (mirror) Reflection" in high school long ago, little did I know how useful they would be! The same applies to ray tracing -- this member of the sequence shows most clearly the converging lens effect of curved bevelled glass acting like a magnifying glass...
(The Persian rug is a stunning Isfahan wool weave inlaid with silk.)
