Variation 3 of 13 -- Sole Searching
Soft silky feet go ‘hand in hand’ with soft silky rugs.
Same petite feet, same Qum silk rug, same bevelled mirror, and same caressing window light as in the original two variations, but here the sole and instep views have been swapped within the real and virtual frames of reference.
What pleases me most about the result is the sfumato on the left foot (the upper one!), transitioning from light on the sole, over the the edge, into shade on the side, suggesting a three-dimensional shapeliness. By contrast, the virtual feet shading is more chiaroscuro.
(I find the variable curvature traceable all over nicely formed female feet endlessly appealing. Those who combine this liking with a mathematics background will know that, depending on what a lady is doing with one of her feet, more than one ‘minimax’ or ‘saddle point’ can be found on it, and that it is fun to locate them. 😉)
