Westgate Not Yet But Closer
For historical interest only. I posted a shot taken from the same spot a while back, not registering the imminence of the 50 year anniversary of the collapse that killed 35 workers. This shot was within a few minutes of the other, but with a Petri 135mm lens. The negative for this one is damaged, and, except for the sky, I got better results from an iPhone re-photograph of an old 10x8 print.
The gap where the pier fell is obvious. So is the height of the fall. The anniversary is today, the date of upload, October 15, 2020. The photo is about 48 years old.
My Petri standard lens noticeably outperformed that of a more famous brand that I later bought (and then discarded). This telephoto lens wasn't too shabby either, especially given that it was, so I remember, only a triplet.
