Bark Cloth Mask 19th Century

This mask was made in the early 20th century on the Nissan island. On display at the Met fifth avenue. These masks are rare,on certain Solomon islands made from bark cloth then stretched over a cane frame and worn like a helmet. The bared teeth show and represent a free spirit. The mask material is wood and bamboo. The dimensions are 74.9 × 331.5 × 38.1 cm) and the ascension number is 1978.412.1518.
