According to Flickr statistics, the most used device for uploading images is not a camera - it's a cellphone.
Which is, in fact, the modern equivalent of last centuries disposable film camera. But now it's 'good enough' for almost anything, easy to use and most importantly, always with you.
But no matter how much computational photography is used, physics can't be beaten. It still suffers from a small sensor and limited lens. Bigger really is always better, and with the right tool and effort more satisfaction can be the result.
