”Osasto Kuhlmey” (”Gefechtsverband Kuhlmey”) was a Luftwaffe’s unit that fought in support of the Finnish Air Force in the final phase of the Continuation War in the summer of 1944.

The unit was named after its commander, Lieutenant Colonel Kurt Kuhlmey. Department Kuhlmey’s main goal was to support the Finnish defense forces to fight off a major attack by the Soviet Union. This support included countering ground attacks, aerial bombardment and aerial reconnaissance. The unit consisted of a variety of aircraft, including Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighters and Junkers Ju 87 dive bombers (Stukas). With the help of these planes, the division was able to perform both fighter and bomber missions. Department Kuhlmey’s operations in Finland ended in July 1944, when the unit withdrew back to Germany.

However, their contribution was a significant part of Finland’s defense against the Soviet invasion.
