Matti Henrik Rantasila (26.12.1922 - 15.03.2004) already entered the service during the winter war on 28.12.1939. He was promoted to lieutenant on July 14, 1942 and served as the leader of the jaeger team and deputy commander of the company.
Rantasila was seriously wounded just 5 days before the armistice on August 31, 1944, when he lost his right hand. Rantasila had been appointed as the leader of the I/JR2 jaeger team just a couple of days before he was fatally wounded.
After the war, he learned to write with his left hand and soon began to produce war books by tapping the Remington with one finger. The first book was published in 1980, "Joukkueenjohtaja", "Talvisodan vapaaehtoinen" was published in 1983, "Viimeinen vastaisku" in 1985 and "Oli neljä veikkoa meitä" in 1993.
