SA-kuva #33365 - Colorized

A German soldier holds up the red army flag.

Despite the fact that the soldier has a hand grenade on his belt, it seems that the Leica III hanging around his neck means that he is an SS-Kriegsberichter, i.e. men of the information company.

The red flag is obviously a landmark that is placed on the terrain, where the tip of the attack is advancing. Probably many flag bearers were killed in that mission.
