Sehr gelungenes Farbenspiel
Die Farben des Zuges standen für die Elemente Wasser, Land und Luft. Sie vermittelten optisch den Eindruck einer herrlichen, am Zugfenster vorbei fliegenden „Sommerlandschaft“. Einen derart aus der Rolle fallenden Zug hätte man der nach Vereinheitlichung strebenden jungen Deutschen Bahn eigentlich nicht zugetraut. Anfang Oktober 1995 war der Zug fertig und wurde von Dortmund zur offiziellen Vorstellung nach Frankfurt überführt. Leider liefen nicht wie geplant die passenden 218 416 und 418 vorne hinter 103 220, sondern am Zugschluss mit. Hier am 8. Oktober an der Loreley in St. Goarshausen. (Scan vom Dia)

Very successful play of colors
The colors of the train represented the elements of water, land and air. They gave the visual impression of a wonderful “summer landscape” flying past the train window. One would not have expected the young Deutsche Bahn, which was striving for unification, to be so out of character. At the beginning of October 1995 the train was finished and was transferred from Dortmund to Frankfurt for the official presentation. Unfortunately, the matching 218 416 and 418 did not run at the front behind 103 220 as planned, but were at the rear of the train. Here on October 8th at the Loreley in St. Goarshausen.
