Matching the Hills

L-HLA816 has recently kept a schedule of heading west to Rolla on Wednesday, then running east back to Lindenwood on Thursday. Well on October 17th, a Tuesday, 816 made an unusual appearance running towards St. Clair with a string of bulkheads to be brought into storage in the siding… adding onto the already many that have been sitting there for a hot minute. Once they shoved the cars in, put the derail back up, and tone dispatch, they would be on the move light engine toward Lindenwood. Cruising along the Frisco Cuba Subdivision the orange duo glides along the early-1900’s-era bridge that once carried the Friscos double main out of St. Louis until the early 30’s when Frisco cut the single track down to West Valley Park, now all that remains are cobblestone piers beside the concrete piers. Fall settles along the river as leafs drift from the trees into the Meramec’s steady but strong current, the trees covering the green hills begin bleeding into orange and brown colors - just as the Frisco’s Cuba subdivision once did during the BN-BNSF transition era ;)
