"Marlene" Oriental Poppy Macro
The cultivated varieties of Oriental poppies may be white to pink, scarlet, or blackish-purple, often doubled to enormous size, or with fringed margins. They have been cultivated in the west since the 1500s, and often featured in 17th and 18th century Dutch flower paintings. The petals are like tissue paper and silky in appearance. These beauties grace my Oriental bed in front of my house.
