I mentioned in my previous post that I was going to a county fair later in the day, which I did, and this is what I wore. I debated about the shoes...cute and foot-littleing or sturdy and foot-biggening? I'm glad I went for sturdy; the grounds were rocky, muddy and uneven.

 

I had the most delightful time at the fair! I met and had a bite to eat with a candidate for mayor, I discovered what the judges look for in a prize pig (not over- or under-muscled; who knew?), I bargained with some 4-H ladies over the cost of handmade goat milk soap (not very hard and I overpaid anyway...it's for the kids, after all), I sat on a bench and watched happy thrill-seekers tumbling end-over-end on some massively engineered carnival ride, I ate a free and delicious BBQ dinner, I had a nice chat with the Director of Admissions at a sister community college...but mostly I just basked in the awesome normalcy of an American tradition--a very tall senior lady enjoying the sheer everyday beauty of a warm Midwest summer's day.
