Peter and Alice Gowland
A giant in the early years of glamour photography and known for his Santa Monica beach shooting with beautiful ladies. He also used the pool in his back yard for many of his photo shoots. Peter was always thinking of way to make better images so he invented a camera he called the 4X5 GOWLANDFLEX GLAMOUR CAMERA to solve some issues he saw in existing equipment. He lamented to me the fact that he no longer gets orders for his cameras due to the revolution to digital!
I was fortunate to have visited Peter and Alice in their home in the Santa Monica area. He still had his white alcove in his living room with a permanent boom light overhead. Next to it, is his darkroom with prints still laying around. The pool was in the backyard exactly like the many pictures I remember seeing. (In their dining room, he is 90 years old here.)
