INQUISITIVE CLARK'S NUTCRACKER
Whenever I go up into the mountains, these birds suddenly appear seemingly out of nowhere. Always curious, they are a delight to photograph.
According to CornellLab, they use their spike-like bills to pick seeds out of pine cones. They eat some and bury thousands of others for the winter.
Photographed on the Grand Mesa, Western Slope, Colorado.
