ROSY FINCHES
Here in Colorado we are fortunate to have all three Rosy Finch species (Brown-capped, Black-capped and Gray-Crowned). The Rosy Finches in this tree are predominately Brown-capped with a few Black-capped. The Brown-capped breeds almost exclusively in Colorado in high alpine areas near remote glaciers and snowy meadows. They are high altitude specialists and can be found at elevations of up to 14,000ft.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife has identified them as a species of greatest conservation need. These finches were photographed in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado.
