From the New World

by Bud Dietrich

Named after the homeowner's favorite piece of music, we started working on this project in 2003. It would have been a total renovation and expansion of an existing house in Deerfield, IL. After going through the design work and getting ready to start the construction drawings, the owner put the project on hold to deal with a family health matter. When, about a year later, the project got started again, it was for a smaller, reduced scope program. This second project was built and can be seen on flickr as "the sound of music set."

This project, though never built, remains one of our favorites because it points to certain design solutions and directions we would explore elsewhere.
