Scepter - 2010.447_print

Scepter was carved from ivory in the late 1800s or early 1900s in Central Africa - most likely in the Democratic of Congo, Cabinda, or Republic of the Kongo - probably by a carver who was a member of the Yombe people. The Scepter measures 28 x 2.5 x 4 cm (11 x 1 x 1 9/16 in.) overall. It is in the collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art (René and Odette Delenne Collection, Leonard C. Hanna, Jr. Fund 2010.447), but is not curently on view in the museum. The image is in the public domain.
