Music Awards at Montreal Jazz. Miles and Miles.
There are several awards given each year during the Montreal Jazz Festival. Some are new, some have long history. Oscar-Peterson Award is the oldest and probably most prestigious. The Miles Davis Award is the second oldest. It was created for the Festival’s 15th anniversary in 1994 to honour a great international jazz musician for the entire body of their work and influence in defining and expanding the jazz vocabulary. Multi-instrumentalist Marcus Miller (who actually played with Miles) was the 29th recipient of the Miles-Davis Award for 2024.
