From South Shields to Sheppey

Clouds form over Queenborough, the only intermediate station on the Isle of Sheppey between Sittingbourne and Sheerness in September 1987, as 2-EPB 6409 picks up a few passengers.

This unit is unusual in that the front vehicle here is S77113, the last of the South Tyneside 2-EPB sets which moved to the SR in the mid 1960s to remain in passenger service. The batch of 6401-6409 were refurbished in the mid 1980s and allocated to Gillingham depot where they worked the Sheerness branch and from Strood to Paddock Wood.
