Class 10 in China (clay)
Ex-BR class 10 D3452 is seen at English China Clay's Fowey plant on a baking hot 7th August 1976. An interesting wagon turntable is in the foreground of this Instamatic shot.
This was during a 2 week All Line Rover, where we took a bus from Par station specially to see this and the others on site D3476 and D3497. Wish we'd taken our sunglasses as the china clay dust everywhere was blinding !
D3452 was originally an ER machine but moved to Toton from where it was withdrawn in 1968 as the class 10s were considered non standard. It was sold into industrial service here in Cornwall where it worked for 20 years, before being saved by the Bodmin & Wenford Railway trust who have repainted it into early BR black livery.
