Buddleja davidii

The butterfly bush is originally native to the Sichuan and Hubei provinces of central China as well as to Japan. It was widely used as decorative plant in many parts of the world until the end of the 20th century as decorative plant, since when it has been supplanted by mostly sterile hybrides. It has, however been naturalised in many areas in temparate zones. The species name is made up of two botanists family names: The English Reverend Adam Buddle and the French Father Armand David.
