I had forgotten how good large early Tuck puzzles are.

Doing this one was a wonderful surprise. An interesting push-fit, cut in 4 segments with 16 whimsies in each segment. And just to add to the fun, these whimsies are themselves dissected into 2 and sometimes 3 pieces, so are far from obvious. See photos.

What is interesting, is that I have a companion Dickens from the same range which is cut in 8 segments with 8 whimsies in each segment, all undissected. So it must have been up to the individual cutter how he treated the whimsies as long as total of 64 was added to the larger Dickens puzzles.

This 433 piece Zag Zaw “David Copperfield on his way to school”. Was cut in 1910-1911. Sadly no box.

Tuck’s produced a brand of 16 push-fit Ludovici Dickens Coaching scenes at this time in 2 sizes 400 pieces and 150 pieces, and was followed fairly rapidly by Parker Bros producing the same image range in the USA.
