The Witches Tower
So proud to show the proper photos of my build (edited by the wonderful Jacqui who edited last years photos) this year was a bit all over the place so I only had about 6-7 months to work on this build. I am beyond happy with how this build turned out.
This year I wanted to make something witches and castle themed. I started off trying to make a worn brick texture. I knew I wanted gaps between the tiles because otherwise the brickwork would look too smooth and new. The technique I developed worked really well and ended up being perfect with each brick being able to be positioned exactly how I wanted them. Once I got the brick technique down I started prototyping how I wanted the display to look. I know I wanted raised islands with the main island having an overhang. The main focal point would be the tower and a big dragon hanging on the side. Once I had a rough idea I started making the rocks. After that I started designing the internals of the walls and tower. Once that was done it was just a matter of spending hours upon hours placing each individual brick…
