Fly Navy

Bottlenose of the Navy Marine Mammal Program gets some air.

The Navy uses dolphins, porpoises and sea lions to look for mines, find unauthorized swimmers, and hunt for lost objects on harbor bottoms.

This was pretty early in the morning (~800am), while the humans were making preparations to take the dolphin out for exercise/training.

At the time I was shooting, I knew the dolphin and the handlers were there, but it was only at the computer that I saw there was a dog on the dock as well. I am assuming this is a guard dog because I've never seen a dog out on the water while they are working with the dolphins.
