In late July 2021, with the release of water from Blowering and Burrinjuck Dams, the Murrumbidgee River rose past 6m in Wagga. Ahead of the rise, the Laverty Pathology drive-through COVID-19 testing station, previously located at Wagga Beach, moved to the Tarcutta St carpark, across from the Civic Theatre.
