Kutbrow is a Desh Orc with a unique appearance and unnatural strength and speed, even for an orc. The Desh clan was rather small, but despite that, Kutbrow built a large Orc Kingdom in the West of the Plains of Bones. In 706AV, King Davian the Bold invaded and colonized Kutbrow's land, so he had to adapt. He conquered several small Orc packs, and built treaties with more formidable packs. During that time, he also found a mate, named Melgo, a female Orc of such impressive strength and size, she could almost match him. After 15 years, he built the largest and most famous united Orc pack in history. In 718AV, Kutbrow and Melgo had a male spawn and named him Krago, and he shared the size and strength of his parents. In 721AV, he launched an offensive against Thronfeld that would last 8 years (The Seven Year Orc War).
Unfortunately for Kutbrow, one of the first battles of the war was against the Colonial forces of Lord Quinn Ugland deep in the south west of the Plains of Bones. Though the Orcs outnumbered his men a hundred to one, Lord Quinn had fortifications, and the Orcs lacked proper siege equipment. After a weeks long siege, the Orcs had fashioned enough ladders to scale the walls, and Kutbrow and his mate were the first over. Lord Quinn met Melgo on the wall and cut her down viciously. Seeing that the battle was lost, Lord Quinn fled in the boat and down the river before Kutbrow could get his hands on him.
Kutbrow was in agony, but his Orcs were thirsty for more battle and he needed to direct his rage. In that moment, he had a vision violently invade his thoughts. He saw Narshak, the blade forged by Dwarves and gifted to the Orcs to help them battle the Vieran long ago. The blade was a symbol of the Orcish power and resilience. Kutbrow remembered it being said that the blade was lost, but he saw it, as clear as day, resting in a small cave in the Brimstone Peaks. He had new resolve. He would conquer all of Thronfeld and claim the blade as his own. He would restore all of Esterdame to the Orcish lands that it was in the beginning of time, before even man walked the land. Over the next 7 years, he would battle Thronfeld across the continent.
When the Storm Hold fell, and Kutbrow's army had mostly been smashed at Thunderhall, Kutbrow absolved that he had to find Narshak before he could conquer the land. He lead his pack once more west of the Shining Stream. He had them camp near Mole Hill, just north of the Brimstone Peaks, and be began his ascent. Within days, Narshak began to call to him, quietly, but then all too loud. The search consumed him, until he found it, right where his vision had shown it would be. He took the sword and descended. When he reached Mole Hill, he found his army scattered, with only a handful of his most loyal followers still in ranks. The newly crowned King Eodor had befallen them and the battle was already a slaughter. He gave the sword to Krago and sent him west with his most trusted followers with hopes of him finding a ship that he could sail north around the peninsula. Against every fibre in his being, he gave the sword to Krago. He did not know why, but it was as if a fog was lifted from his eyes.
He went down into the valley to rally his troops, but on seeing King Eodor's cavalry level his ranks, he fled with some orcs up the hill toward a large solitary tree. It was under that tree that his body was found, along with the bodies of his defenders, all cut down by the sword. It is unknown who struck the killing blow. Some believe his pack betrayed him, while others believe one of the King's men killed him and then died themselves in the valley. Kutbrow's story is one of tragedy that is not remembered fondly by the people of Thronfeld.
Krago's story was covered in my previous post.
