Accepting Defeat

Sir Haytham's victory over the Sea Beast was hollow and bitter. To kill a knight of such valour was not his intention when he started this rebellion. He wanted a stronger Thronfeld. One that would sail to the aid of it's Swakuran allies, and ride south into the Bloody Marches to end the Attonight threat. The King was weak, and Haytham could not understand why so many were willing to die for such a leader. Should he survive the Shining Stream down to the Marsh, he would have to decide where to go next. He knew he would never find peace west of the Giant's Tear, no matter how close a friend was Lord Pyrseus. He did not want to go to the Western Cities, as there he could only be a mercenary with no no land nor standing. He then realized, an enemy of an enemy could be a friend. He had heard that The Emperor of Attenor had grown mad and that many wanted to crown his son, who was reported to be a skilled swordsman with an even temper. If Sir Haytham declared for the son, and the Emperor were to die, her'd havea powerful ally. Perhaps Haytham's dreams of a stronger Thronfeld could come to be, but the crown may have to be his.
