The Craven Lord

The Marsh Men are a diverse group, not only made up of knights, but of local mercenaries, disgraced Lords, Vieran and Gazuman warriors and peasants.

Lord Asher Ellott was the lord of Talon Spire until the days of the Second Son Rebellion. His whole life changed when his younger brother Miken returned home to overthrow him in the name of Haytham Blythe. Asher was never a great warrior, being more a student of battle tactics and psychology, so he surrendered the castle in exchange for the safety of his wife and son, but once Miken was inside the walls, he had them killed. Asher was removed from the city and released. Word spread of Asher's surrender and his failure to protect his family and he began to be called "the Craven Lord" because of his cowardice. When the rebellion ended, the King annexed most of his lands, but returned his castle to him. Without revenue from his lands, the castle began to fall to ruin and was sacked by Orcs at the start of the Seven Year Orc War. Without a home, Asher went to the Stormhold to serve as an advisor, but was banished from court for questioning the Princess in 727AV. He met Karston Flint during his time in the Stormhold and after the battle of Mole Hill, he received an invitation to join the resistance against Attenor. He serves as the company's recruiter, treasurer and as the tactical advisor to Sir Karston.

Trogar is a Gazuman Commander who was charged with the defence of the ancient stronghold of Pattengar (which is commonly known as the Marsh Fort) by King Zurgoth in the days of the Gazuman Empire. When the empire fell, most Gazumen returned to Ottogar, but Trogar and his men remained at their post to prevent any advances by the Vieran and Attonight alliance. Since those days, his soldiers have all died, either in battle or from sickness and he served alone as the Keeper of the Key. His knowledge of the labyrinth of tunnels through the marsh and his ability to open and close their entrances and flood them with the use of his key, is invaluable. When he originally saw the Marsh men ambushing the Attonights, they were camped out in tents, so he took a chance and welcomed them in. The use of the tower and tunnels increased the effectiveness of the Marsh Men a hundred-fold.

Celro is a Vieran warrior who was captured by Attonights in 730AV and as per Vieran custom, no attempt was made to rescue him. When the Marsh Men were attempting to break Richard Forrester out of the same prison in 730AV, they came across him and asked him to join them. He accepted their offer and entered into a life debt to Sir Karston. He serves as the company's scout to the Bloody March, as he knows the land best. He is incredibly swift and brutal in combat and he does not fear death, as he believes he already died in prison.

The other four are locals. Cud was a Barkeep in a village just north of the marsh. He joined when he saw how the Marsh Men distributed their spoils amongst the people. Shireen is the daughter of a Lord and hails from the island just west of the Marsh Fort. The Attonights killed her family when they converted her island to their own port, and she joined the Marsh Men. Swamp Rat was a local mercenary, mostly being paid to ward off bandits from a crows nest with his bow, but he saw an opportunity to make much more money robbing Attonights with the Marsh Men. He serves as the scout in the marsh, and the eyes in the sky leading up to an ambush. Calton was a bandit himself before he was captured by Karston and convinced to pursue more noble goals.

These members of the group mostly serve in auxillary roles, such as scouts, reserves and distributers of gold to the locals.
