The Bomb Maker

Urismod "Hullcrusher" is the Gazuman Commander in charge of the defence of the Island Ottogar. He is a brilliant tactician and a fierce warrior, wielding his two hammers. He formerly commanded the Eastern Tower of the Frost Gate (the passage to the North), but had to retreat when his forces were overrun by that of Willem Guant III in 169AV. Upon his return to Ottogar, he was tasked with halting any more northern advancements by the forces of Men. This would prove to be a great challenge as the coasts of the island and practically the whole of the Grey Channel were once patrolled by the vast Gazuman Navy. This Navy was diminished by years of war, so Urismod had to be creative.

For years, he worked with the greatest minds in the Kingdom and finally he invented a modest version of a mine. Immediately, he littered the waters between the island and mainland with the bombs and they quickly saw results. Invasion forces were turned back before even landing on shore. This success bore another problem, The Gazuman could no longer leave their island without the fear of shipwreck at the hands of this great invention. Urismod then developed high-powered magnets that would be fixed to the bombs and the hulls of their ships that would repel one another. He then developed a projectile that could pierce enemy ships and explode in their hulls. During his testing of these weapons, Urismod sustained a serious head injury, when a bomb prematurely exploded. The only ill effects of this injury is that his love of fire increased tenfold. To the happiness of the Gazuman, these scientific developments, no one has landed on Ottogar uninvited for nearly 500 years.

They do however ferry guests to their island for feasts and other events. The Blythes of Thunderhall have been frequent guests of the island since the death of Willem Guant VIII in 382AV. It was at the end of the Guant dynasty and the beginning of House Fielder's rule that peace was restored between Dwarves and Men. At present, the Gazuman military is small, and any request for their aid on the mainland is always denied, though they are happy to keep up trade.
