Trollsbane's Heavy Infantry

In the centre is Prince Dendrick Fielder, AKA Trollsbane, (Born 708AV) the only relative of Young King Davian III who has not renounced his claim to the throne. He claims it is practical, as Davian does not have an heir, but some confuse his quiet demeanour as the behaviour of someone who has something to hide. Ever since he was a boy, Dendrick was larger than his peers and quiet, though extremely bright. He was the youngest of four siblings and the favourite of his mother, the late Queen Talissa, because his frame resembled that of the now-extinct tribes of the Brimstone Peaks, from which she descended. He carries the ancient Great-sword called "Münta" which means "sword of the mountain". The sword was forged from the heart of a mountain and passed down from chief to chief of the tribe. The last of the tribe mysteriously disappeared in 718AV and the sword was delivered to Talissa, the daughter of the last chief, who then passed it to Dendrick.

On the right is Dendrick's friend Sir Grendol. Grendol was the one who gave Dendrick the nickname "Trollsbane" after a run-in with a Troll in the winter of 726AV.

Sir Grendol tells the story like this, "In the thick of the Seven Year War, Sir Arthur, father of Arthrell and Captain of the King's Shield died in his attempt to rescue the husband of Princess Vianna. Dendrick and Arthrell then volunteered to lead a force to the Rocklands at the base of the mountains east of the Ice Lake to search for his sister's kidnapped husband. To Dendrick's surprise, and his mother Talissa’s horror, his father granted his request. Arthrell however was not permitted to leave as it was now his duty replace his father as Captain of the King's Shield. Dendrick was given authority over 20 men, barely a scouting party, to search the troll infested mountains. We left the Storm Hold in the Fall of 726AV and after stopping to aid House Trench of the Oaken Bridge, made it to the Rocklands 2 months later. We searched for another 2 months and found no trace of Harrison, or any trace of the orcs. In the middle of winter, we were deep within the mountains when we were beset upon by a Troll. He crushed our packmule and threw it towards us and Dendrick was trapped under it. He struggled to get free while we were smashed to pieces. One after another our comrades fell until only 5 of us remained, including Dendrick. Together, we lifted the mule off the Prince while the Troll was distracted and we engaged the beast. Our attacks did little and three more men fell. Finally, Dendrick displayed a rage and strength the like that I'd never seen. He slid under the beast, leaped upon a rock and jumped off, bringing his blade down on the back of the troll’s head. A tidal wave of blood seemed to fill the cave and when it cleared, the troll laid on the rocks, cloven in two. Knowing that we could search no longer, Dendrick and I returned to the Storm Hold in spring of 727AV. It was on the journey home that I first called him Trollsbane and it seems like the name stuck."

Both men joined Queen Talissa on her diplomatic mission to the North and were guests there when the Stormhold fell in 728AV. After this, they and their party fled to the Western cities and were mercenaries until 737AV when Dendrick's nephew returned to the throne.
