Day 323 of 365

After yesterday’s shot, I thought it would be a good time to try another photo that’s been on my list for a while. There’s at least one bison herd being maintained and protected off the highway so it’s really a matter of finding them. I was really hoping for another head-on portrait but they could care less about me being a ways off behind a fence and hardly looked up, let alone looked up in my direction, as they just mostly kept grazing and moving further away from me. While I wasn’t able to get that shot that I was really hoping for, it was still a very cool experience to see these magnificent animals relatively up close (thankfully telephoto lenses make them come to me instead of putting myself in harm’s way). Capturing this one walking back towards the rest of the herd felt like a very fitting image to encapsulate the animals’ reintroduction and recovery after being nearly wiped out.
