Onyx essentially hijacked what was supposed to be a very personal photo today. He can’t help but be intrigued by the lights and camera gear when I have them out so was hanging around and I jokingly picked him up to get him in a photo and he was surprisingly cooperative so I couldn’t go back to a self-portrait of just me and not have him in it too.
I knew I wanted to do a self-portrait today as it felt like a very fitting day to celebrate myself which I don’t usually do. It has now been seven years since I quit drinking alcohol so this date is quite a meaningful day for me. Outside of asking Holly to marry me, making the decision to quit was the best decision I’ve made in my life (and the marriage wouldn’t have happened without that first). It hasn’t always been easy but it has always been worth it. And for that reason, today was a day to take a photo of myself…and Onyx.
