Day 119 of 365

I was driving up near Greeley and was heading home when I saw this cemetery along with some old looking buildings behind it with mountains even further back. It was a combination of three things that I like so it was a no-brainer to stop. As I was wandering around trying to find a shot I most liked when I saw this Helzer headstone. I used to work with someone whose last name was Helzer. The office we worked in was south of DTC in Englewood and I knew she lived up in or near Greeley. I’d always wondered why she made such a long commute every day when someone told me why. Apparently, when my co-worker’s husband’s father was on his deathbed, they promised him that they would keep his farm or ranch which was up north and wouldn’t sell it. Since they promised to keep the land, she made a crazy commute every day of the week. Given where this cemetery is and knowing that story, it makes me wonder if this was the grave of her father-in-law. I have no way to really know but would like to think it is as that would make for a good story and big coincidence. Either way, when I saw it, I knew that was my spot to take my photo.
