First West Yorkshire 37073 - YJ08 GVG
First Bradford bus 37073 has been in service for almost 18 years since it was introduced in March 2008. The bus is a Volvo B9TL with a Wright Eclipse Gemini body.
It is part of the First Bradford fleet, operating services such as the X6 route between Leeds and Bradford, the 617/618 route to Holme Wood, the 620 route to Bierley, the 622 route to Bingley, the 626 route to Baildon and the 640/641 route to Buttershaw.
Based on current fleet transition plans in early 2026, it is highly probable that many First West Yorkshire Volvo B9TLs, including older models like 37123, 37124, 37292, 37296, 37063, 37071 and 37073 will be withdrawn or significantly reduced by 2027 due to two major factors including Bus Franchising Rollout (April 2027) and Vehicle Age and Emissions. Other older Volvo B9TLs in the region have already begun to be withdrawn or transferred. For instance, First Huddersfield 37125 was withdrawn for disposal in November 2025, despite being repainted into the Ultraviolet livery a month ago in October.
The region's "Weaver Network" strategy focuses on "greener buses". Older diesel models like the Volvo B9TL are being systematically replaced by electric or ultra-low emission vehicles to meet climate goals.
Older "Gemini 1s" like 37063, 37071 and 37073 are likely to be withdrawn as the new franchised fleet arrives in early 2027. Newer B9TL models may remain as contingency or trainer vehicles.
On Friday 23rd January 2026, First Bradford 37073 was seen waiting to operate the 642 route to Fagley via Barkerend.
