***The Trail to Mojanda Lakes 500
The Mojanda Lakes are located high in the Andes nearly 13,000 feet above sea level. This is the view approaching the largest Lake known as Caricocha, which is known as the Male Lake. This lake is about 330 feet deep.
These Lakes are still isolated and I met few travellers that day.
The weather is full of mist and clouds and always seems to be cool.
This was one of a few solo hikes while in Ecuador and I really enjoyed the peace and tranquility, since one can pretty well climb onto any ridge and breathe in some of the purest air on the planet.
Very peaceful and a great place to meditate on why we love traveling this beautiful planet.
At the end of the day my host from Otavalo returned and I captured this photo as we were leaving in the late afternoon :)
