A long awaited chance at catching BLE 868 was finally taken this weekend on April 2, 2022. After receiving word that there would be a miscellaneous run on the CN bessemer subdivision, I booked it out the door and up to butler as fast as semi-legally possible. The train showed itself at standard junction less than 5 minutes after my arrival, from there I chased all the way to the Allegheny River bridge. Here, the train is seen booking it under the signal bridge at Russleton. The trail up to the tracks was in so much disarray from ATV’s and other vehicles that I almost slipped and fell multiple times. But as they say, anything for the shot.
