On a Magic Mountain

Irises flowering at 1800m above sea-level in the Alpine Garden of the "Berghotel Schatzalp" by Davos in Switzerland. The hotel was built in 1898-1900 as a sanatorium for tuberculosis patients and provided the setting for Thomas Mann's famous novel "The Magic Mountain" ("Der Zauberberg"). The alpine garden dates back to 1907.

Taken with an especially adapted SMC Pentax-M 50mm f:1.7 "Soft" lens, with an additional "Duto" filter (a plain glass filter with concentric rings). The lens has a perforated disc inserted in the optical path. The unusual bokeh is the result of this combination. SOOC (Best viewed "Large" on full-screen!)
