FF Vienna metropolitan railways fence

Fence Fridays, 2020-07-10

Is it the sun, is it an Edelweiss flower, or is it the wheel of a steam locomotive? Sturdily braced in its iron mount, this symbolic feature is typical of local railway fences all over Vienna. It is always painted this shade of green, a colour widely used in Viennese art nouveau ("Jugendstil"). The old stations were designed by Vienna's early twentieth-century architectural master-mind, Otto Wagner. HFF!

SMC Pentax-DA 40mm f:2.8 Limited - wide open.

(The lens is hardly bigger than a body-cap - I sometimes think I've forgotten to mount it when I take the camera out of the bag!)
