Intel Broadwell-EP Die Shot

This is from an engineering sample (QK3J).

 

This is the first die-shot created using my custom automated stage + controller setup. It is still a work in progress and I discovered some issues during this run that I will be fixing before the next chip. The code for maintaining focus across the chip didn't work for the bottom right corner.

 

A chip of this size would have taken me atleast 4 hours to capture manually, the automated system was able to do it in 2.5 hours with no input from me other than for setting it up.

 

There is still a bit of residue left, when I prepared this chip I only intended to do a single core close-up, but a poorly-lit and low-res photo of this chip got included in Ivan Musachev's collage and I so I wanted to get a better picture for that.

Note that some dust particles have been removed in photoshop.
