iridescence

the violet-backed starling male (cinnyricinclus leucogaster) is one of the most beautiful african bird.

mainly frugivorous those birds are erratic.not easy to find at short distance.

but in central kruger area they feed mostly on some fruit plants and if you see/ear those starlings around you can try to wait them close to the fruits.probably they will arrive!

anyway in 3 consecutive years in the same area/period i found

2 specimen 2017 +50 2018 just 1 in 2019...they are simply erratic and to meet them along the roads isnt easy.

in photography the trouble is their plumage.it is really "iridescent" so the light gestion is very complicate.under the sun light the iridescence is a real problem.
