KYLE 4460 West - Dresden, Kansas
My entire philosophy when it comes to railroad photography, is that I strive to shoot both the old and the new, pretty and ugly. As I’ve spent more and more time in this hobby, I’ve watched as things change and evolve. Older power slips off the Class Is and Shortlines get the scraps. Every shot, to me, is a record of what once was, what still is, and what will be. While I’m not too big of a fan of the paint scheme given to this unit, knowing it was leading its first ever train with this livery, I decided to drive the five hours out here and chase. I might not like how it looks, but in twenty years when this thing is rotting away in a scrapyard, I can proudly tell people I was the first person to shoot it in daylight.
