The Restless Stitcher
Embroidered Garden
I bought this embroidered garden scene in a thrift store for the princely sum of $7.
I strongly suspect that it was a stamped embroidery because I can see a faint trace of blue behind some of the stitches. When I googled the quote I found a more skillfully embroidered version of the same design that was dated 1951. I also presume that the stitcher framed it themself. The frame is in decent shape, though it has various dings in it.
The quote reads:
In a garden green and gay
All my troubles fade away
Sweet contentment here I find
Joy of heart and peace of mind
Patience Strong
The glass made it just about impossible to photograph, as I was trying to avoid any weird reflections or hazy light. This was the best angle I tried. I love this delightful patch of clover I found by a fence.
