Troublesome Tuesday
These two young bucks moved like playful brothers, chasing each other through the brush, occasionally rearing back to kick, half in jest, half in challenge. At first glance, it looked like harmless fun, but as I’ve since read, these early sparring sessions are part of a deeper lesson. Whitetails use kicks and mock battles to establish dominance and learn the boundaries of their social order. It's nature’s way of preparing them for the hierarchy they'll one day have to navigate, especially when food, space, and status are on the line and this grass was greener than the other side.
