Sting, Live At The Hollywood Bowl, October 7th, 2023
by sebulia
Jules, Alison and I went to Los Angeles to see Sting in concert at the Hollywood Bowl for the first time in 10 years. Opening for Sting was his son, Joe Sumner, and his grandkids!
Sting performed a mix of his classics with a few newer songs, supported by two very talented vocalists, as well as a gifted band (the young harmonica player recreated an opening piece from Stevie Wonder).
Songs included “Englishman in New York,” “Message in a Bottle,” “So Lonely,” “Shape of My Heart,” “Walking on the Moon,” “Roxanne” (with the stage bathed in red light), “Every Breath You Take,” and ending with his stirring acoustic finale of “Fragile.”
Sting’s family returned to the stage for the final numbers. Amazing show! Ran about 2 and a half hours (not bad for a 72 year old man, right? He truly rocked).
Getting out of the Bowl parking lot (and Hollywood) was a logistical nightmare, but we made it, thanks to my wife’s alertness and driving skill. ;-)
