Dahme, Schleswig-Holstein (Germany)

The 28.8 meter high, octagonal brick tower was built in 1878/79 on a site height ("Höved") near today's Baltic Sea.

At the time of the German-German division, the lighthouse in Dahmeshöved had a special meaning. It served the GDR citizens as a point of reference when fleeing across the Baltic Sea as the so-called "Light of Freedom".
